I hate to disagree with a fellow Cubs fan. Music is a personal thing so I can't argue with your liking this but to me they're like the bastard child of Madonna and a heavy metal band. I much prefer the R.E.M version. Again just my personal take.
Totally agree with you about the singing/metal thing. when I first heard Evanescence and Seether together I thought music had hit rock bottom. I just thought this band did the sing/thrash better than most. I just grew to like the goth metal sound over the past few years because I realized some of the best music put out the last ten years is in the Metal part of the spectrum.
Do I like the R.E.M. version 20 years after it was made? Most def.
Will I like this version 20 years from now? We'll see.
